Guns N’ Roses at Hiro Ballroom

OK, so it’s not 1987. But seeing Guns N’ Roses (aka Axl Rose) in a 600 person club is still pretty freakin’ cool. I was lucky enough to shoot two shows this past Fashion Week for the DeLeon Tequila Rock Lounge. I’ll be posting some pics of the The Kills show at Boom Boom Room next week, but for now here’s some GNR.

Neil Patrick Harris and Shannon McIntosh Photo Shoot

Very excited to finally share the shoot I did with Tag Heuer for their “Time for Rebels” exhibition. The assignment was to photograph two “rebels”. More specifically, a person who demonstrates in their acts, attitude, and what they stand for an element of rebellion. More than 15 countries were to take part in the exhibit, and all were given some basic guidelines – two rebels, two photos, one subject in focus, one out of focus. The exhibit premiered in Geneva last week, and will be hitting the road for a two year touring exhibit.

The Sky Was Exploding

As you may recall, I take photos and my buddy Dave writes words. Sometimes I’ll take a photo that will inspire him to write an interpretation of the scene I’ve captured. I hope you enjoy our third collaboration, what Dave calls “The Sky Was Exploding”.

The Sky Was Exploding
words by Dave Maiello, photo by Rob Loud

The sky was exploding with color as I stood there with her by my side.  A knowing grin began to spread across my mouth because at that moment, I knew.  I knew that this was a little slice of perfection, and recognizing it made me happy, truly.

And yes, I also knew that it would end.  And yes, I also knew that I would never forget how I felt right then and there, because at that precise moment, I knew I loved her.

On the Road With the Champions Series

Jim Courier and John McEnroe toast to a successful end of tour in Buffalo, NY.

Champions Series Tennis hit the road this year with a new look. It shook the old model of 8 players competing in a 4-5 day tournament and replaced it with a four player, 12 city tour. Guys like Agassi, Sampras, and McEnroe. Guys who can still play (surprisingly) well.

I’ve been shooting the tour for a couple years now, and by now I know my way around a bit. When to shoot, what to shoot, who to shoot. It was a blast joining them on the road for a bit, and the crew at InsideOut did an amazing job setting this thing off for it’s first run of this kind.

Check out some behind the scenes photos from 2011 Champions Series.

Back To The Roots – Stone Rose Photos

If you’re familiar with my work at all, you know I’m primarily a people photographer. Music, weddings, portraits, events. But in one of those blessings in disguise, my photo career actually began with a real estate gig. It was for a horrible company called Foxtons, and while they’ve since gone out of business thanks to their ridiculous business model and 2% real estate commissions, I would have never even considered photography as a profession.

I still shoot interiors, though now it is usually for hotels or restaurants or clubs. I shot the somewhat newly remodeled Stone Rose this past weekend and was quite happy with how they came out. So in what is probably my first non people post, here are a few of my favorites.
