The best part about SXSW is not a surprise Kanye appearance. It’s discovering new bands in their ascent. I was finally able to catch up with The Kingston Springs, a band my buddy Jeff Gentner has been following and filming for over a year now. They’re young, exciting, and as I write driving west for (I believe) their first west coast swing. Jeff also turned me on to another Nashville local, Rayland Baxter, who’s voice, to me, sounds part Jim James, part Paul Simon. I think that’s a compliment?

Some photos from one of the many Kingston Springs and Rayland Baxter’s SXSW sets.

Here’s a little vid Jeff Gentner put together for the boys.
